“MODERNTEC Joins K-RE100, Becomes the First in the EV Charger Industry to Declare 100% Transition to Renewable Energy”

2026-01-30

Targeting 100% Renewable Energy Use by 2030

MODERNTEC Co., Ltd. (CEO Sung-Doo Kim) is embarking on a full-scale transition to environmentally responsible management with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2030. In line with the global movement to address climate change, the company aims to strengthen circular economy initiatives and carbon-neutral practices, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable management.

On the 29th, MODERNTEC announced that it has officially joined K-RE100, Korea’s renewable energy transition campaign. The company completed the enrollment process last week and plans to implement a phased roadmap in cooperation with the program’s administering body, the Korea Energy Agency. This marks the first-ever participation by a company in the domestic electric vehicle charging equipment industry, drawing significant attention from the sector.

K-RE100 is a Korean adaptation of the global voluntary carbon-neutral initiative RE100, in which multinational corporations commit to sourcing 100% of their electricity from renewable energy such as solar and wind power.

MODERNTEC has already installed solar power generation facilities at its newly constructed plant in 2025, enabling the production and use of renewable energy on-site. Building on its K-RE100 commitment, the company plans to further expand solar installations by utilizing available spaces such as factory rooftops. In addition, MODERNTEC intends to achieve 100% renewable electricity usage by 2030 through a combination of measures, including renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs), acquisition of renewable energy certificates (RECs), and participation in the green premium program.

CEO Sung-Doo Kim of MODERNTEC stated,

“Joining K-RE100 represents a critical turning point for MODERNTEC as we strive to become a sustainable global leader in the EV charging industry. Based on a realistic and actionable carbon-neutral roadmap, we will further accelerate our differentiated ESG management practices.”
